Running for Meeker Benefit Trial

Our good friends at the Mountain & Plains Border Collie Association recently hosted a benefit trial to raise some funds to help the Meeker Classic recoup some of the expenses lost with the cancellation of the 2020 trial due to the pandemic. A beautiful facility welcomed a good turn out for the one-day arena trail in Kiowa, Colorado on February 7th.  A lot of work went into the planning and preparation of a trial and these folks outdid themselves.

They also hosted a Ghost Benefit Trial with on-going entries. A ghost trial is run like a normal trial, except that you will never send a dog if you enter. Handlers enter their dogs along with stories about the dog. A random draw picked the winner and reserve.  In  the Meeker tradition a draw was done for the Ghost Rider Cowboy Lift Award.  You can see all 65 entries in the Ghost Trial on MPBCA’s website and read the great stories that accompany each dog.  It’s a heartfelt testimony to the special dogs that touch the lives of so many.

We send a special thanks to everyone that entered these trials and to all the volunteers that worked so hard to host the trial.  The Meeker Classic is blessed to have such special friends. We all look forward to seeing everyone in September for the Trial!
