“Stories in the Sky”

This new addition to the Meeker Classic will appeal to the visitors and natives alike.  As we partner with the Colorado Tourism folks to celebrate the Colorado 150/US 250 anniversary and the 40th anniversary of the Meeker Classic, all in Meeker will be treated to a breathtaking production in the sky up above the Meeker Cemetery.  Placed far enough away from the trial site not to bother the dogs,  the “Stories in the Sky” for the Meeker Classic combines storytelling, Colorado/Meeker Classic themed visuals and dazzling technology to honor our history, landscapes and culture.

BUFFALO SOLDIERS OF THE AMERICAN WEST – Saturday, September 12  during the noon hour lunch break

A combined effort of the Rio Blanco County Historical Society and the Meeker Classic . A living history presentation on the trial field. The mission and purpose of the Buffalo Soldiers of the American West are to educate the public about the existence of the Ninth and Tenth United States Cavalry, regiments made up of African-Americans. The organization fulfills its mission by making historical and drill team presentations at schools, to civic organizations and businesses, and participating in other community celebrations of the American West, such as parades and the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo. Authenticity is the goal of all presentations.
