There’s a special group of people that guide and direct the course of the Meeker Classic – our Board of Directors.  All volunteers, each of these people commit precious time and effort into the yearlong journey of coordinating the Meeker Classic.  True civic heroes, these folks model the spirit of volunteerism and community that lies at the foundation of all that is worthy and successful in our country.  So, over the next few posts, you’ll get to meet each of these extraordinary people!

Committee members often find that sharing positions and dividing work loads and responsibilities to what fits individual schedules work best. Such is true for the Art Show Committee.  For three years, Kari Jo Ruchti has served as Co-Chair for the Meeker Classic Art & Photography Show.

Kari’s work schedule makes it ideal for her to concentrate on the planning and execution of the Annual Art Reception held during the Meeker Classic each year.  She’s been able to reach out to local restaurants and caterers and provide a real “Taste of Meeker” at the art reception each year.  Managing the volunteers for the evening and helping announce the awards, Kari contributes a warm, memorable experience for artists and event visitors alike.

Kari Jo was born in Meeker, raised in Oklahoma and returned to Meeker 15 years ago.  She married a Meeker native and lives on the family ranch west of town.  Kari Jo works at the local Park and Recreation District in Meeker where she teaches dance and fitness classes as the Recreation Coordinator.  Bringing the joy of dance and fitness to students of all ages, Kari Jo helps choreograph programs and recitals for the community. When away from work Kari Jo enjoys spending time with her family, friends and her puppies!

Kari Jo’s appreciation of culinary diversity shows itself in the Art Reception and is also one of her favorite things about the Meeker Classic. She loves the variety of food vendors and their menu options at the Meeker Classic.  “and it’s always exciting to see where everyone comes from just to watch the Meeker Classic!” says Kari Jo of the event.  Be sure to attend the Art Reception on Thursday evening, September 5, 2019 during the Meeker Classic – you’ll experience the efforts of Kari Jo’s planning and creativity and you won’t be disappointed!  Join us in thanking Kari Jo for all she does for the Meeker Classic.
