Meeker Classic Memorial Scholarship – 2013 Announcement
[hr] The Meeker Classic Sheepdog Championship Trials (MCSCT) announces its “Meeker Classic Memorial Scholarship” in memory and honor of exemplary volunteers that have donated their time and talent to the trial, but have now passed on. This scholarship was initiated in 2009 (for award in 2010) and was dedicated to Gene Scritchfield for his many years of service to the Meeker Classic. The scholarship awarded in 2011 was in honor of Randy Campbell, in 2012 in honor of Bill and Genevieve Clough, and the 2013 scholarship in honor of Roger Culbreath, Gill CO. Roger was instrumental in getting this event off the ground 27 years ago. This scholarship will be awarded as follows:o A minimum of $300 awarded to the student the second year of their studies;
o Interested 2013 graduates must send an “intent to apply” to the MCSCT Scholarship Committee by June 30, 2013. The intent to apply is a brief form (see attached) including: the student’s name, address, phone number, Meeker High School GPA, and where they intend to continue their education, and their education/training goals.
o The scholarship award will be available to any Meeker High School graduate who submits the intent to apply and continues their education in a two year trade school, two year associate degree or four year college or university.
o At the end of the applicant’s first year of school the student will receive from MCSCT the formal scholarship application to complete and return by June 30th of that year. At that time, the MCSCT Scholarship Committee will select 5 finalists for interviews.
o The scholarship winner will be announced August 15th each year and will be presented at the Trial in September.
o The Meeker High School graduating class of 2013 will be the Fifth eligible class for the Memorial Scholarship to be awarded in September, 2014.
o This Scholarship is intended to honor in memorialize volunteers that have supported the MCSCT over its 27+ year history. Applicants will be awarded based on their volunteer activities and understanding of community volunteerism.
o Relatives of MCSCT volunteers and associates of the MCSCT are eligible to apply.
