The Meeker Classic has officially opened entries for 2017 Meeker Classic Sheepdog International Art & Photography Contest. Event organizers are excited to announce the addition of a Photography Contest to the show. This is in response to numerous requests to add a photography element to the show over the years. Beginning in 2017, the Photography will be compliment to the existing art show and all photography entries will be judged separately from the other work. The winning entry for the photography contest will be utilized in the 2018 Meeker Classic publicity material. The Photography Contest will augment and compliment the current Art competition with the winning piece of art work still being the official 2018 image for Meeker Classic marketing materials and souvenirs.

A total of 65 entries will be juried for exhibit during the 2017 Meeker Classic – 15 of those will be photography pieces with the remaining 50 pieces selected from all other art work. Event organizers stress that the photography will be judged separately from all other artwork. Selected entries will be displayed at a local venue August 10 – Sept 5, 2017 upon when they will be moved to the Trial Site and displayed in the Wilber Barn during the 2017 Meeker Classic, Sept. 6 – 10, 2017. All artwork will be for sale during the trial through a silent auction that closes at noon on Sunday, Sept. 10th. Art Show organizers will be available to take bids through the phone or emails. A reception is planned for Thursday evening, Sept. 7, 2017 from 5 – 7 pm at the Wilber Barn. Lite refreshments and appetizers will be served and guests can vote for the People’s Choice Award. Awards will be announced that evening.
Spectators await the announcement of the 2016 Art Show Awards
A traditional favorite among Meeker residents, spectators and handlers. The art show is diverse in its origins and rich with creativity, the show presents some of the finest original sheep dog artwork to be found. Open daily during the Meeker Classic, the art show has grown over the 30 years since its inception and now fills the historic Wilbur Barn located at the trial site.
