Our  popular Lamb Cook-off has grown into a NEW EVENT featuring  LAMB, MUSIC, CULTURE & SPIRITS on the square in Downtown Meeker.  Traditionally held in conjunction with the Art Reception at the Wilber Barn on Thursday evening, the Cook-off has moved to a new venue and date.  The Jammin’ Lamb Festival is the result of combining the popular Lion’s Club Barbeque and FREE outdoor concert held on Saturday night of the trials with the concept of a Culinary Competition and tasting event.

The contest is open to 8 chefs who will flex their culinary might with fresh Colorado Raised lamb.  Contestants will be given the choice of ground lamb or lamb shoulder to prepare in small portions to be served to customers of the Jammin’ Lamb Festival.  Ten dollars will buy you ten tickets to use for the various lamb samples, side dishes provided by the local Lion’s Club or a dutch oven cobbler done by county commissioner Jeff Rector.  Cash awards will be given along with the prestige of winning the competition.  Entries will be juried by a panel of media representatives and then customers can vote for the “People’s Choice Award.”

Complementing the evening, the Lion’s Club will provide a cash bar and local musical talent will be showcased. The popular Casserole Beans and the Matt and Shana Holliday Band will split evening performances.  Various educational and enrichment booths will be opened for the evening as well.  Awards will be announced at 6:00 following a calcutta of the top 12 Finalist Dogs.  It’s an evening you won’t want to miss as we gather to celebrate the sheep industry, our local talent and the finalists in our sheepdog trial competition.

Later that evening handlers will gather out at the Rio Blanco County Fairgrounds for the Handler’s Challenge Arena Jackpot Trial.  The public is invited to attend and no admission will be charged.

Sponsored in part by the American Lamb Board, Colorado Sheep and Wool Authority and Mountain States Rosen Lamb, the evening proceeds will benefit the Old West Heritage Culture Center and the Lion’s Club.  Click Here for  JamminLamb Entry Form 2017 or more information visit the Meeker Classic Website
