NEW EVENT IN JUNE –  The Meeker Classic is pleased to announce that we’ll be hosting a new event this year.   On June 7th we are hosting the first Meeker Classic Cattledog Trial. We’ve visited with several of our handlers that compete in both sheepdog and  cattledog trials. This seems like a natural fit for us and is a time of year that works for our volunteers.   Sanctioned by the National Cattledog Association, this trial will be held at the Meeker Classic site – FREE admission to all who want to come join us as we get our feet wet with this new experience.  It should be lots fun and good watching for the spectators.

Forty dogs and their handlers will test their skills against a group of cattle as they work through a set of obstacles on the field.  The best help on a ranch is often the well trained dog that gathers cattle and assists in working them in large pastures or in the corral.  The cattldog course is set to duplicate those typical situations and allows the handler the choice of being on foot or horseback. . We’ll be taking entries on DogTrialEntry on May 1st.  We’ll have special page on our website for the Cattledog Trial.

Also in Meeker on that weekend, the Meeker Arts Council will be hosting the annual Meeker Palooza – an annual arts and music festival on Saturday, June 6th.  So, make your plans to visit Meeker in June – we’d love to see you and introduce you our new event!

A REMINDER – NO SPECTATOR DOGS ALLOWED – THANK YOU!
