First Place winning artwork will be used on 2011 Collector series posters and promotional memorabilia. This entry will be sold during 2010 Trials, but will remain in possession of Meeker Classic Sheepdog Championship Trials until the 2011 trials. (See entry form   for requirements)

2010 International Art Contest Specifications

     First Place $2000, Runner-Up $650, People’s Choice $350,

     Best of Northwest Colorado $250 - sponsored by Big Beaver Ranch *Category of Northwest Colorado is comprised of artists residing in Rio Blanco, Moffat, Routt, Mesa, and Garfield Counties. 

1.       2010 First Place artwork will be the only artwork used for the 2011 Meeker Classic poster, t-shirts, sweatshirts, mugs and other official souvenir items. 

2.       The theme of artwork entries must reflect sheepdog trials.

3.       Entries must be original artwork not previously entered in a Meeker Classic Art Contest.  Any reproducible medium is acceptable.  Sculptures and photographs are not eligible.

4.       Artwork must arrive unframed.  Artwork must be ready to hang with necessary hardware. Artwork must be signed, matted with a 2-inch mat, and adequately backed (for example, foam core).  Do not mat entries on masonite, clay board or stretched canvas.  Artwork must be protected by a covering of clear acetate or plastic, such as shrink wrap.  Pastels should be treated with a fixative before wrapping and shipping.

5.       Artwork must be shipped in a reusable container that can be used to ship the artwork back to the artist in the event the piece is not sold at the silent auction.  Please do not use “peanuts” as packing material.

6.       All artwork not sold at the silent auction will be returned to the artist at their cost.  Returned artwork will be insured at the value indicated by the artist on the application.  Artists must choose one of the following methods for return freight:

(a)      Provide a prepaid return shipping label with your application and artwork, OR

(b)    Provide a valid email address so that the Meeker Classic can bill the artist for the exact amount of freight, after shipping.  (These orders are done through PayPal, and only require that the artist have a Visa or MasterCard with which to pay the freight). OR

(c)     I will pick up my artwork after the trial.

7.       Please note that the artist assumes the risk of loss or damage to the artwork during transportation and while the artwork is in the custody of the Meeker Classic.  The artist is responsible for making such insurance arrangements as the artist deems appropriate.

8.       A signed entry form, artwork, and a $50 non-refundable entry fee for each work submitted must be received by the Meeker Classic no later than August 1, 2010.

9.       All artwork must be available for sale by silent action held by the Meeker Classic from  September 8-12, 2010, for no less than the Minimum Sale Price specified by the artist on the Entry Form.

10.    Proceeds of sale at the art auction or otherwise through the Meeker Classic will be shared as follows:  20% of the proceeds to the Meeker Classic, with the balance to the artist.

11.    Winners will be announced at the Art Contest Reception held Thursday evening, September 9, 2010. People’s Choice award will be voted on at the Art Reception and awarded that evening. Need not be present to win.
